The big brothers of the playgroup have grown bigger shoes and are now ready to take on the challenges of the Learning Framework. The classroom is spacious and airy with all the teaching aids necessary to meet the learning objectives.
The children now can start formal education. However as ‘children must be children,’ they have numerous fun-filled activities as well. Tracing the small letters of the alphabet in English, pattern writing and matching letters to letter friends are some of the activity sheets provided for this age group. Jolly phonics books 1,2,3 are introduced. Listen, talk, show and tell, recite, listen to a story, tell a story, are some of the activities to develop communication skills.
Pre-math concepts and number writing, rote counting, recognition, number concept, ordering, matching and sorting, math games and puzzles are the curriculum for this age group. The children get plenty of opportunity to develop math skills.
Knowing and understanding the world around is thematic. This area of knowledge is learnt with experience, books and charts.
This group enjoys structured art and craft time. The children get to experience and use a variety of materials.
Sports: Walking games herald the development of the gait. Ball skills are structured to ensure development of handgrip, eye and leg coordination! Running races is also included in the plan.
