Education redefined

Situated in the heart of Kampala, The Hungry Caterpillar is a reputed school with a history of 10 long years that have turned out excellent calibre of students with a strong foundation and positive attitude towards learning.

Today the school has evolved into magnificent premises, a new building with state-of-the-art facilities, an open door to excellence in the field of education.

The school boasts of an International Pre-school using the British National curriculum EYFS Key stage 1 for the 2 to 6 yr age group, meeting the diverse needs of children from different nationalities.

The sector focuses on the learning process, which is activity-based, where every concept is taught through hands-on experiences, observation, logic and individual attention in a rich environment. “Know the child” is our practice where progress is reviewed and recorded.

Pre-primary Facility of ‘The Learning Framework’ for Early Childhood Development, a product of The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) is available for those interested in the local curriculum of Uganda.

This sector of the school is curriculum based, results-oriented and the outcome focuses on what the child will be as a result of the learning process. The program uses a child-centered approach using Themes as a medium for knowledge in a conducive environment where the child develops Life Skills.

The school also offers Primary Education of Uganda for students 6 to 12 yrs, P1 to P7. Today, education has taken on a new meaning, different approaches are merged and integrated to suit a culture and presented to the children to become achievers.

The curriculum is project-based. Good grooming, eloquent expression, logic and reasoning, are some of the qualities the primary children will reflect by the time they leave the school.

Personality of the school: When you walk into the school, there is a noticeable feeling of warmth. “Aunty B” whose warmth and affection permeates the whole school, staff and children, has 18 years of experience working with children. She is a visionary, who always considers children and school to be a temple of learning.

Her untiring efforts to make it into a dream school with the beliefs that “let children be children” and that “today’ s children are tomorrow’ s future” has taken shape now.

“Advancement feeds excellence in education and the educational program itself supports development efforts” is what she says. The levels of development the child undergoes early in life is the level of success that child will experience later in life.

Discipline at school
  • Most of our children have developed a sense of right and wrong, hence acceptable behavior amongst children is noticeable. They respond to the teacher’s instructions positively while learning and playing with others in a responsible manner. We like to work in partnership with parents in all personal, social and emotional behavior of the child in case of any disciplinary issues.
